Mindless Juices

While laying on the bed this morning with my son, I thought about all the things I do that I never would have thought I’d do.  I mean, if someone said, “Someday, you’re going to wipe another person’s butt for them,” I’d tell them they were crazy.  You just don’t think about it, but parents do a lot of things that we’d consider crazy if they weren’t simply caring for their child.

So, I’d thought I’d compile a little list of these crazy things.  I’m thinking there are some parents out there that will add to it.  For those of you who are thinking about having kids, don’t let this scare you.  Most people never actually think about any of this stuff… I’m just weird.
1.) You wipe another person’s butt for them.
2.) You feed another person an entire cup of Cheerios one-by-one.
3.) You suddenly take naps when you’re not even that tired.
4.) You do the dishes/laundry/vacuum three times more than you used to.
5.) You notice spots on your carpet you never noticed before.
6.) You wear your pajamas for days on end before realizing that you haven’t showered in that time.
7.) You forget to eat and go to the bathroom often.
8.) You stop setting an alarm… you’ll be up anyway, and, if you’re not, you won’t want to be woken up or wake up anyone else.
9.) You take twice as long to get ready to go anywhere.
10.) You practically stop watching all of the TV shows you used to watch.
11.) You and your spouse go to the movies without each other (if you go at all).
12.) You find out there’s a secret “club” of people walking around with too little sleep…
13.) You read the same 4 pages of a book with a total of about 40 words 16 times in a row.
14.) You sing every children’s song you can possibly remember back-to-back-to-back-to-back…
15.) You despise toys that have “Batteries Not Included.”
16.) One-quarter of everything you own suddenly plays “Old McDonald.”

But, the best one is:
17.) You can’t remember a time when you didn’t love everything on this list.
